A Better New World
In this section you will find my ‘making the world a better place’ artwork, which is yet to come. I am still figuring out on how to approach the sufferings of this world in a comforting and hopeful way, artist-wise.
Many years ago I created a couple of ‘A Better New World’ artwork, but after working for PETA (People for the ethical treatment of animals) for a year and thus constantly seeing (as was my job) in the hateful social media environment how so many humans just don’t care about our animal fellows, I lost my faith and stopped. The many other things going wrong in this world only added up to this notion. I wouldn’t say that I found my faith back entirely, but my focus has been attuned to the people who are fighting for the good and working hard to make Earth a better place for a while now. Many inspiring people like Robert Marc Lehmann and Denise Gough have arisen the wish to be a more proactive part of this movement.
Next to the many little things I already do in my daily life, like being vegan, collecting trash in the woods, buying zero/less plastic products (I haven’t bought potatoes in a net for eight years now :)), donating money on a regular base, going to demonstrations, etc., I want to contribute in my own unique way, which is my artwork. It’s is the only thing I feel I can be really good at. It won’t change the world, but if it results in people rethinking their attitudes and giving them new perspectives gently, if it raises awareness to topics we should not look away from, or if it lightens the weight on a person’s shoulder who had a hard day fighting for this world for a moment, then I have accomplished my goal. It is all the little achievements that count and add up in sum. Together we can create a better new world.
So, to put it into Maarva Carassi’s words: I have been sleeping. And I did so for quite a long while. It is time to wake up. So I will, slowly rising, slowly drawing, slowly creating awareness raising artwork and doing so in a comforting and affirming way.
Since this part of my art is as important to me as all the topics I wish to address, because they are connected to the real world – in stark contrast to my fictional fanart, I want it to be especially good. Therefore, I will take my time. So, please be patient with me and this project and this slowly growing side page.
